Hellgate: London is now on shelves all around the world, and obviously, lots of reviews are being published by various websites and magazines. Here are three of those reviews.
The first reviewer, from Bit-Tech, is not very satisfied with the game, though he states that the multiplayer is much better than the single player. Final grade: 7/10
In multiplayer the game becomes pretty damn good and there’s the promise of more to come as long as EA and Flagship follow through on the plans to add more content for subscribers.
To put it simply, while the singleplayer side of things is on the lesser side of average the multiplayer compensates by being on the lower side of really-quite-good, but still remains above average.
ComputerandVideoGames.com reviewed the game too and they still want to see what the game could become after a few patche. Here is their conclusion:
*Verdict
London Underwhelmed
*Uppers
Non-stop, lively action
Doesn’t take itself too seriously
A treat for loot-lovers
*Downers
Needs time and patches
Humour often misses the mark by a wide mile
Finally, a review by JeuxVideo.com (the biggest French-language video game website). This one is very criticized in the comments, as HGL received a 15/20 while Loki and Titan Quest received 16/20 and 18/20, and because the reviewer did not bother trying the multiplayer part:
No doubt that the game is addictive, because it’s good, hence we will excuse the problems mentioned earlier. But those who waited for Diablo 2’s heir will have to wait a few more years.
We can only hope the singleplayer will soon get patched, as it seems he’s not up to par with the multiplayer.
